Terms of Use

These are the rules for using Tiki. By creating an account, you agree to them. Please read the parts about payments and tickets carefully.

1. What Tiki is (and isn't)

Tiki (tikiapp.co.za), run by Caroline Brown, is a place for people to list tickets they can't use, find tickets they want, and get in touch with each other.

  • Tiki doesn't handle payments. Buyers and sellers agree on payment and the ticket transfer directly with each other.
  • Tiki isn't part of any deal. The deal is between the buyer and the seller. The tickets aren't ours, we can't guarantee them, and we can't give refunds.
  • We aren't connected to event organisers or official ticket sellers unless we say so.

2. Who can use Tiki

You must be 18 or older. You need one account, with your real email address, and you're responsible for everything done with your account. Keep your password private.

3. Selling tickets

  • Only list tickets you actually have and are allowed to sell.
  • Describe them honestly: the right event, ticket type, number of tickets and any conditions.
  • Follow the event's rules. Some events don't allow resale, limit the resale price, or require an official transfer. It's your responsibility to check and follow them.
  • Don't sell the same ticket to more than one person. Remove or mark your listing as sold once it's gone.
  • Some listings (for example very expensive ones) wait for an admin to approve them before they go live.

4. Buying tickets, offers and bids

  • Offers and bids show you're serious. Only make them if you intend to follow through.
  • When an auction ends, the highest bids win the tickets. The buyer and seller then arrange payment and the transfer between themselves.
  • Check the seller's profile and ratings, ask for proof of purchase, use an official transfer where possible, and don't pay everything up front to someone you can't verify. Every listing also has "Trade safely" tips.

5. Things you mustn't do

  • Scam people, sell fake, used, cancelled or duplicated tickets, or take payment without handing over a ticket.
  • Pretend to be someone else, or create a new account after being banned.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or post offensive content.
  • Spam people, or post anything that isn't about tickets to events.
  • Try to break, overload or get around the security of Tiki.

6. What we can do

To keep Tiki safe and fair, we can review, hide or remove listings, messages, events or ratings, and suspend or ban accounts that break these terms or that we reasonably believe are being used for scams. If we ban you, you may not create another account.

7. Your content

You own what you post. You allow us to show it on Tiki and in link previews (for example when someone shares a listing on WhatsApp) for as long as it's on Tiki. Proof-of-purchase uploads are private and only seen by you and Tiki admins.

8. Problems between users

If a deal goes wrong, try to sort it out with the other person first. Please report scams and fake tickets on the listing or profile so we can act. For fraud, you can also report to the police and your bank.

9. Responsibility

Tiki is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses caused by deals between users, by tickets that don't work, or by events that are cancelled or changed. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act, where it applies.

10. Changes and ending your account

We may update these terms; we'll change the date at the top and tell you if the change is important. You can stop using Tiki at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@tikiapp.co.za.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.
